■ What is a galling prevention film for initial friction?
Initially, slide members have rough surfaces; therefore, the members contact each other at certain points. A galling prevention film for initial friction distributes a load concentrated at the points, reduces abrasion caused by initial sliding friction, curbs generation of frictional heat, and prevents galling by increasing the area of contact so that the slide members come into full contact with one another.
■ Main features
The film improves the conformability of slide members, extends the part life, and creates a smooth coating on contact surfaces so that the surfaces slide smoothly.

■ What is a non-cohesive film?
A non-cohesive film that contains a mixture of coating material and a substance with low surface energy prevents adhesion of cohesive substances, such as tape and glue.
■ Main features
Since the Non-cohesive film is baked at a relatively low temperature (80℃), it can be used as a coating for not only metal parts but also some kinds of resins.
The film has excellent resistance to abrasion with paper. A matte black type that prevents light reflection is also available.

■ What is a heat generation film?
A heat generation film generates heat across the film by applying an electric current to it.
■ Main features
The film can generate heat even at low voltage.
A higher grade with superior flexibility, which is applicable to films and paper, is also available from Toyo Drilube.

■ What is a heat insulation film?
A heat insulation film is a coating film has low thermal conductivity. By applying the film to the surfaces of an item to be coated, heat conducted through the surfaces of the item is reduced.

The film can be applied to various items in complicated shapes and withstands heat exceeding 400℃.

■ What is a heat-releasing film?
A heat-releasing film can add an excellent heat radiation property to the surfaces of the base material.
■ Main features
A heat-releasing film is a coating film that adds an excellent heat radiation property to the surfaces of a base material. The heat radiation property of the film is higher than that of black anodized aluminum, which is generally known to have a high heat radiation property. Use of a spray allows the film to be applied to objects in complicated shapes.
 In addition to applications to devices to be cooled, such as electronic devices, automobiles and lighting apparatus, this film can be applied to devices for which heat efficiency is required, such as heaters.

An insulating film is a coating film with a high insulating property. By coating parts with the film, the parts do not conduct electricity easily.

■ What is an antistatic film?
An antistatic film is a coating film to prevents build-up of static electricity. By coating nonconductive parts with this film, the conductivity of the surface of the parts is improved in the same manner as the conducting coat.
■ Main features
The antistatic film prevents buildup of static electricity and adhesion of paper dust by electrostatic attraction.

■ What is an electromagnetic shielding film?
An electromagnetic shielding film is a coating film to cut off electromagnetic waves.
This film can be applied to items in various shapes and adds high shielding property against electromagnetic waves.
■ Main features
The electromagnetic shielding film is not a sheet type but a coating type. Since this film can be applied directly to items in various shapes from planar items to complicated items, high adhesion is achieved. A higher grade with superior flexibility, which can be applied to films and paper, is also available.

■ What is an oil-and-water-repellent coating?
An oil-and-water-repellent coating is a coating film that uses our original technology and has high repellency. Droplets run off the surface of the coating quickly. It does not allow droplets to rest on the surface.
■ Main features
The oil-water-repellent coating has an excellent property to repel droplets, prevents adhesion of water and oil, and maintains water and oil repellency at high temperatures.

■ What is a super-water-repellent coating?
A super-water-repellent coating uses special raw material and has a microscopic structure on its surface. A contact angle between the coating and a droplet is so large (approximately 150°) that droplets are repelled, do not stay, and run off the surface.

The coating gives an excellent property to repel droplets to the surface of a base material.
Since the coating can be created at low temperatures, it is applicable to various kinds of base materials.

■ What is an ultra-hydrophobic coating?
An ultra-hydrophobic coating has a special surface effect to increase a contact angle. Owing to a large angle of contact, droplets take a spherical shape and run off smoothly.

The repelled droplets maintain the spherical shape while they are running off and do not run on the surface.

■ What is a hydrophilic coating film?
A hydrophilic coating film has an affinity for water. An angle of contact between a waterdrop and the film is very small.
■ Main features
Since the contact angle between the film and waterdrops is extremely small, waterdrops run on the surfaces of a part coated with the film.

■ What is a chemical-resistant film?
A chemical-resistant film is a coating film that have high resistance to chemicals such as alkali, acids, oxidizing agents, organic solvents, and salts.
■ Main features
Since the chemical-resistant film improves alkali and acid resistance of parts to be coated, it is often used to protect aluminum die castings from corrosion caused by condensate contained in exhaust gas.

■ What is a rust preventive film?
A rust preventive film prevents a metal part from rusting. By covering the part with the film, the contact between the part and an outside environment is cut off.
■ Main features
A higher grade that can be used for not only preventing rust but also improving the aesthetic appearance of metal parts is also available.

A gas barrier (gas shielding film) is a coating film that prevents deterioration of a base material. By coating a base material with this film, permeation of a gas, such as hydrogen and oxygen, is curbed.

A light-shielding film is a coating film that blocks light. By coating a part with this film, light shining onto the surfaces of the part is diffused.

A black lubrication coating is a black coating film that contains a solid lubricant in the coating film and therefore the surface has lubricity.

■ What is a matte coating for lens?
A matte coating for lens is a matte black coating film that prevents the diffused reflection of light. By applying this coating to the circumference of a lens, irregular reflection of light that occurs when the light transmits through the lens can be curbed.
This coating complies with strict environmental regulations such as REACH and RoHS.

The coating can be applied using a paintbrush, brush, or sponge.
This coating can be baked at low temperatures. Even at normal temperatures, the coating solidifies by taking time.

Electrostatic flocking is a treatment method to plant finely chopped fiber (pile) in the surface of a base material vertically utilizing an electric field.
■ Main features
The electrostatic flocking has the following effects: light blocking, non-slip effect, sound attenuation, decoration, heat insulation, prevention of chattering vibration sound, prevention of dampness, and velvet-like appearance and touch. This method is used for internal parts and lens hoods of cameras.

Matte electrodeposition is a method to deposit a matte black film electrically by applying a voltage of different polarities and a direct current to an electrode and an items to be coated, respectively with them immersed in paint. Our matte electrodeposition coating contains a composite high polymer emulsion.

* A DLC coating is a treatment to apply a hard film with a low frictional property to the surfaces of various base materials. The low frictional property and high hardness are achieved using an amorphous hard carbon that has intermediate physical properties between diamond and graphite.

A manganese phosphate treatment is a chemical conversion treatment to create a manganese-phosphate-based crystalline film on the surfaces of ferrous material chemically.
■ Main features
By creating an insoluble manganese phosphate film on the surfaces of ferrous material, the corrosion of the surfaces can be retarded. The treatment can be also used as an undercoat for ferrous material before painting.

■ What is salt-bath nitrocarburizing?
Salt-bath nitrocarburizing is a chemical conversion treatment to create a nitride layer on the surface of a base material using a salt bath that contains nitrogen and carbon.
■ Main features
A nitrocarburized layer has the following features: wear resistance, anti-seizing property, heat resistance, and corrosion resistance.
Compared to other heat treatments, the treatment temperature of salt-bath nitrocarburizing is relatively low (approximately 500-600℃). Therefore, deformation caused by the heat treatment can be curbed.

Carbonitriding is a heat treatment to improve wear and corrosion resistance of the surfaces of material by permeating a small amount of nitrogen into a carburized layer.
■ Main features
Features of a carburized layer: To improve fatigue resistance, wear resistance, elastic limit, etc.
Since the treatment temperature of carbonitriding is low, deformation of material can be curbed.

Quenching is a heat treatment to harden metallic material and improve wear resistance, tensile strength, and fatigue strength by cooling the material rapidly from high temperatures.
