What is the quick-drying lubricant? LUBICK that can be utilized as a quick-drying lubricant is also explained.

Lubricants are used to prevent the friction of metal materials used in automobiles, motorcycles, and machines and reduce the risks of wear, heat generation, and malfunctions. A quick-drying lubricant exists as one of the types of such lubricants. Quick-drying lubricants are used for various familiar applications, such as automobiles and home electrical appliances.

In the first place, some of you may not be familiar with what quick-drying lubricants are and what applications they can be used for. So, in this article, the advantages of using the product and examples of use are introduced, including the introduction of recommended quick-drying lubricant products that you should use. If you are interested in quick-drying lubricants, please check this.

What is Quick-drying lubricants

Quick-drying lubricants are, as the name states, lubricants that offer an excellent quick-drying property. It is made with a combination of a lubricating substance and solvent with very high drying properties that dries in seconds. It is characterized by the rapid formation of a dry or wet-type lubricant film when applied to metals, resins, and rubbers.

The dry type forms a powder-type thin film. The advantage is that it provides superior lubricity during the initial sliding between parts. It provides high lubricating performance even in the light-load range.

The wet type forms an oil-typed thin film. One of the remarkable features is the self-resilience unique to oil that securely preserves the lubricating ability. This type also offers excellent adaptability to various types of equipment and provides stable lubricating performance in the high load range.

What is the recommended quick-drying lubricant LUBICK?

The quick-drying lubricant LUBICK is a product sold by Toyo Drilube, which manufactures and sells solid film lubricants.

Easy to apply by spraying, brushing, or dipping to give lubrication to the object. LUBICK is also applicable to metals, resins, and rubber. In our track record, the products have been adopted in cutting-edge equipment in the automotive, optical, home electrical appliance, and information and telecommunications industries.

As an example of a friction coefficient comparison, both the static and dynamic friction coefficients are 0.30 in the case of the untreated condition (PC). Applying LUBICK (LBF-201) significantly lowers the static friction coefficient to 0.08 and the dynamic friction coefficient to 0.07. The data demonstrates that LUBICK has high lubricity and reduces frictional force.

LUBICK thin films can be chosen from two types: dry and wet. Please choose a suitable product to your application.

Advantages of using the quick-drying lubricant LUBICK

There are various advantages to using the quick-drying lubricant LUBICK. The advantages are as follows:

Improved Lubricity

LUBICK contains a lubricating substance, a fluorine compound. Fluorine compounds feature a low friction property thanks to the low friction coefficient.

Fluorine compounds are chemical substances composed of fluorine and carbon. It is characterized by the high bonding force between carbon and fluorine and the property of weak attraction between molecules. In addition, it has excellent lubricity thanks to its low friction properties since it is difficult to adhere to and, therefore, will slide easily.

When lubrication becomes insufficient, the wear of the machine progresses under the influence of friction, leading to failures of overheating and defective motion. By using LUBICK, which improves sliding performance with low friction, it is possible to prevent abnormal movement and malfunctions of the equipment.

Improved Initial Sliding Performance

Before a new machine product is put into full-scale operation, it is used at a controlled performance level for the purpose of initial familiarization (running-in operation). The initial run-in operation will prevent rapid wear or failure of components, thereby extending the service life. Using LUBICK provides an initial break-in effect and improves lubricity during the run-in operation.

A lubricant film is required for reducing wear, whereas other fluid films like oil or grease cannot reduce wear. Excellent in low friction property, LUBICK can quickly form a lubricant film, allowing a run-in operation while preventing wear.

Squeaking noise measures

Sliding components of rubber or plastic parts that come into contact with each other may squeak when sliding. Such noise is also generated by the effect of friction.

The squeaking noise means that lubricity is lost, and the sliding surfaces are subject to severe friction. The squeaking from an equipment product can be considered the warning sign of a problem. Using LUBICK, it is possible to reduce squeaking while improving lubricity.

Squeaking can create discomfort when operating equipment products and may lead to decreased work efficiency due to the distracting noise. To avoid disrupting the work and the use of equipment products, utilize a quick-drying lubricant as a countermeasure for squeaking.

Increased Workability

LUBICK has the advantage of increasing the work efficiency during the assembly process. For example, when opening a hole on an aluminum alloy plate, it will be troublesome to open a hole with low lubricity of the drill.

In such a case, by applying a quick-drying lubricant to the drill, the drilling process will be smooth while protecting the drill from severe friction and heat. Increased work efficiency will also reduce the workload of the workers.

LUBICK is easily applied by spraying or brushing, making it less likely to reduce work efficiency.

Improved Ease of Inserting

When inserting parts during the assembly process, it may be difficult to insert them smoothly due to poor sliding performance. In particular, rubber products, such as packings, tend to be difficult to insert because their surfaces are not slippery. LUBICK is useful in such a case as well.

By applying LUBICK to areas with poor sliding, the smooth insertion of parts will be possible. If parts are not inserted properly, malfunctions and premature failures may occur.

A problem could lead to the loss of trust by the public as a company. Smooth insertion of parts with quick-drying lubricants will lead to fewer defects and preservation of superior product quality as well.

Extending the life of parts

It is also possible to improve the durability of equipment products by utilizing LUBICK to increase sliding performance. In the sliding areas, the durability and accuracy of parts are degraded by friction from the contact between parts.

Although the adopted materials are basically low in friction, it is still difficult to maintain the durability of components only with that. Accordingly, the use of quick-drying lubricants to increase sliding performance and reduce friction will prolong the service life of parts and equipment products.

Specific use case examples of a quick-drying lubricant

Specific use case examples of a quick-drying lubricant

The scenes of utilizing quick-drying lubricants are diverse. Here, we will look at some specific cases of use.

Improved Riding Comfort by Applying to Car Dampers

The ride quality of cars will be improved by applying the quick-drying lubricant to the dampers. The damper is one of the components that make up what is called the suspension, which is responsible for mitigating the impact transmitted from the ground.

Impacts to the vehicle body are absorbed by the spirally wound spring (coil spring), but when the impact is absorbed, the force of the contracted spring that would quickly return causes vibrations. The damper is a component responsible for converting the return force of the spring into a slower action, thereby reducing vibrations.

TOYO DRILUBE also offers the Damper LUBICK quick-drying lubricant exclusively for dampers. Applying Damper LUBICK to car piston rods and packing parts improves lubrication from film resin formation, thereby eliminating frictional resistance.

This reduces thrust and jolting and can prolong the life of the damper itself. It also allows for quicker traction and can reduce the feeling of wobble as well. A comfortable driving feeling will be achieved even in vehicles with high mileage.

High work efficiency is also attractive thanks to its quick-drying properties after application. Liquid and spray types are provided; you can choose the type that best suits your application.

Prevention of squeaking of formed parts for automobiles and motorcycles during sliding

Strange noises may be heard from the sliding components of automobiles and motorcycles. As mentioned above, an unusual noise during sliding is highly likely the sign of a problem. Since this is mainly the state of high friction due to under-lubrication, the use of a quick-drying lubricant can prevent friction and squeaking at the same time.

Use TOYO DRILUBE LUBICK Mo 108 for automobiles and motorcycles to prevent the squeaking noise from sliding. LUBICK Mo 108 is a quick-drying lubricant blended with high-purity molybdenum disulfide. Easy to apply spray type.

Simply spraying on the subject will form a strong lubricant film, reducing the influence of friction. Only a single application provides a sufficient lubrication effect but applying it one more time after it dries is more effective in further lowering frictional resistance.

Increased inserting performance for rubber parts

Rubber is a non-slippery material, so parts may not be inserted smoothly resulting in degraded work efficiency. If workers’ concentration gradually declines as well, the work efficiency will be increasingly impaired. Even in such a case, by using a quick-drying lubricant, rubber parts can be inserted smoothly, leading to more efficient operations.
